Access, plans and administration
Why can’t I see this?
Work out in under a minute whether a missing page is your permissions, your plan, or the wrong organisation.
Something you expected isn’t there. Find the symptom below — the exact wording echoMike used is the fastest way to identify which gate stopped you.
Before you start
Confirm the organisation name at the top of the sidebar is the one you expect. Everything in echoMike is scoped to a single organisation, and you cannot switch between organisations in the app — if the name is wrong, you have been added to the wrong one.
Common problems
A page is missing from the sidebar
Restricted pages are hidden rather than greyed out, so a missing item means you lack the permission behind it. Trash needs Restore deleted items. Reviews needs either Review job forms or Review safety documents. Audits needs View audit logs and the Audit log plan feature. The Organization menu only appears if at least one of its sub-items is available to you.
Fix Ask an organisation admin to add the permission — Every permission lists which one gates each page.
A tab is missing from a page I can open
Tabs are gated individually, so you can reach a page and still not see all of it. A job’s Logs tab needs Manage flight logs, or organisation admin. Billing on a job or project needs Manage finance. Safety → Documents needs Manage safety or Review safety documents, and Safety → Settings needs Manage safety — without them, Safety opens on Readiness with no sign the other tabs exist.
Fix Ask for the permission listed against that tab in Every permission.
I got a card saying “Access Denied”
A shield icon and “You don’t have permission to view this page.” means you reached a page by link or bookmark that your permissions don’t cover. Some pages name what they need — /organization/templates says “You need the Manage org settings permission to view templates.”
Fix Ask for the named permission. If no permission is named, look the page up in Every permission.
I clicked something and got “Permission needed”
A red toast means the server refused the action, and the body names the permission in plain words: “You don’t have permission to manage controlled safety documents and notices.”
Fix That sentence is the answer. Quote it verbatim when you ask an admin — the wording maps to exactly one permission.
I got “Upgrade required”
A padlock, the words Upgrade required, and a View billing and plans button. This is not a permission at all — the feature isn’t in your organisation’s plan, so nobody in the organisation can use it, admins included.
Fix An organisation admin needs to change the plan. See plans, features and limits for which plan includes what.
I changed someone’s role but nothing changed for them
Assigning a role copies its permissions onto the person; it does not link them to it. Editing the Manager role does not touch anyone already assigned Manager.
Fix Reassign the role to each affected person, which re-copies the current set. Ask them to reload echoMike afterwards.
The role dropdown says “Custom”
echoMike works the role name out backwards by matching a person’s permissions against each role. One extra or missing toggle and no role matches exactly, so it displays Custom.
Fix Nothing is broken. If you want the named role back, reassign it, which overwrites their permissions with that role’s set.
I’m an organisation admin and still blocked
Admins pass every permission check, so a wall you hit as an admin is a plan or billing limit, not a permission. Look for Upgrade required, No seat available, Organisation is read-only or Plan limit reached.
Fix Go to /organization/billing and check the plan, seat count and storage usage.
I’m the assigned pilot but can’t record a flight clearance
Being assigned to the job isn’t sufficient on its own. echoMike requires that you are assigned and recognised as a pilot on that job, or that you hold Manage flight logs.
Fix Ask an admin to confirm your pilot role on the job, or to grant Manage flight logs. See record a flight clearance.
I can see the override option but the button stays disabled
In Enforced mode a blocking check must be individually overridden before the clearance can be recorded, and each override needs the Approve flight-release overrides permission plus a written justification. Until then the button reads Blocked by N checks.
Fix Either clear the underlying check, or ask someone holding Approve flight-release overrides to record the clearance. Note that no built-in role includes it.
My account isn’t linked to an organisation
“Your account isn’t linked to an organization yet. Ask your administrator to add you.” You’ve signed in successfully but nobody has added you to an organisation.
Fix Ask an admin to add you to the organisation. Membership is managed in your identity provider rather than in echoMike — an admin opens it by selecting the organisation name at the top of the sidebar. Sign out and back in once you have been added.
Still stuck
If you’ve confirmed the permission, the plan and the organisation and something is still missing, reload echoMike — permissions are read when the app starts, so a change made while you were signed in won’t apply until you refresh.

Sign in as a user with the Viewer role and capture the full sidebar. Trash, Audits, Reviews and Organization should all be absent — this is the shot that shows hidden rather than disabled.

Open /organization/reports on an organisation on the Starter plan. Capture the padlock icon, the 'Upgrade required' heading and the 'View billing and plans' button.
