Restore items from Trash

Deleting a project or a job doesn’t destroy it. Both go to Trash, where they can be restored intact. Trash is also the one place they can be destroyed for good.

Before you start

Needs the Restore deleted items permission, and it is not included in any built-in role — not even Manager. Without it the Trash item is hidden from the sidebar entirely, which is why deleted work often looks permanently gone when it isn’t.

Steps

1. Open Trash from the sidebar

   Go to /trash. Deleted work is split into Deleted projects and Deleted jobs. An empty Trash reads No items in trash.

2. Find the item

   Locate the project or job by name. Check you have the right one — restoring is safe, but permanent deletion is not reversible.

3. Restore it

   Select Restore on its row. echoMike confirms with Project restored or Job restored, and the item returns to its normal place with its files, forms and records attached.

Options

Deleting something permanently

To destroy an item for good, use the delete action on its row. echoMike asks you to confirm in a dialog titled Delete Project Permanently? or Delete Job Permanently?, which spells out that the project and all its jobs, notes, files and data go with it. There is no recovery afterwards and support cannot undo it.

Do this only when you are certain the work has no evidential value. Jobs carry flight records, signed forms and RAMS revisions that may be needed for a CAA audit long after the work itself is finished.

What happens next

A restored project reappears in /projects with its jobs, files and forms as they were. A restored job returns to its project and to the calendar, and counts towards readiness and reporting again.

Troubleshooting

If Trash is not in your sidebar you lack the permission — ask an admin to add Restore deleted items, and see why can’t I see this?. If Trash is empty but you expected something in it, check the organisation name at the top of the sidebar is the one the work belongs to.
