Import survey data and export the Ops Pack

Two deliverables come off a finished job: the survey data your client wants, and the Ops Pack — every form you completed, as one archive. Both start from the job.

Before you start

Know the coordinate reference system your survey was collected in. The import wizard flags a survey whose CRS Differs from project or is Unknown, but it cannot guess the right one for you.

If your points came from an RTK rover, keep the base point rows in the file. echoMike uses them to draw baselines, and you can strip them afterwards.

Steps

1. Open the job Spatial tab

   Open the job and select Spatial. The rail lists Flight areas, Control points, Surveys, Survey points, Annotations, Project annotations and — on a Pro plan or above — Orthophotos.

2. Start the import

   In Surveys, select Import survey, then Open import wizard. echoMike accepts JXL, CSV and TXT.

3. Add your files

   Drop in one file or several — you can merge several files into one survey. If Trimble Connect is linked, the Trimble Connect source card pulls JXL straight from a linked project instead.

4. Choose a processing method

   Just import saves the merged points as they are, with no adjustments recorded. Record an external adjustment captures an adjustment you performed elsewhere. Align vertically with past surveys ties this survey’s heights to earlier ones on the job.

5. Resolve the coordinate system

   The wizard reports each file’s CRS as Matches project, Differs from project, Not set or Unknown. Set it before continuing — a survey imported against the wrong CRS puts every point in the wrong place.

6. Name and confirm

   Give the survey a Survey name, or leave it blank to auto-name it. The confirmation step shows Points, Files and Coord systems so you can check the merge before it lands.

See the RTK baselines

Once points are imported, a Survey points group appears in the Spatial rail with category toggles — Topo, Stakeout, Control, GCP and Aero — and a RTK baselines toggle. Switch it on and the map draws a dashed line from each rover shot back to the base it was measured from. It is the quickest way to spot a shot taken from the wrong base, or a baseline far longer than it should be.

Geomagnetic activity degrades RTK accuracy. If the job’s Kp Index readout was above 5, treat the baselines as suspect — see Job weather and airspace data.

Strip the base points

In the survey edit table, Remove base points deletes points whose name is referenced as another point’s RTK base, such as RTCM0001 or VAN1. Do this after you have looked at the baselines, not before.

Rename or delete a survey

Open a survey in the inspector for Rename survey and Delete this survey?.

What happens next

Select Ops Pack in the job header to download every completed form as one archive. It arrives as OpsPack-Job_Name.zip, sorted into folders:

The job’s deliverables board carries the same thing as an Ops pack tile, reading 6 documents with the hint Export the pack, or Nothing to export when no forms have been started.

The CAA audit pack checks for it too. A flight whose job has at least one completed form shows Ops Pack — Present in the wizard; one with none shows Ops Pack — Missing (no in-app forms completed). See Reports and the CAA audit pack.

Troubleshooting

The Ops Pack button is greyed out. The job has no completed forms yet, so there is nothing to put in the archive. Start with the Pre-Flight Survey.

“Could not generate the ops pack.” The export renders each document to PDF as it runs, so a very large job can time out. Retry; if it keeps failing, export the individual documents with their own Export PDF buttons.

The Trimble Connect card is disabled. It reads either Trimble integration not connected or Link a Trimble project to import JXLs. Fix it under Integrations and branding, or upload the JXL by hand.
