Work the CAA SkyWise feed

Read the regulator alert feed, keep your own list tidy, and turn an alert into a draft company bulletin.

The CAA SkyWise tab mirrors the CAA SkyWise Drones feed and records what your organisation did with each item. It synchronises automatically every 15 minutes. Reading and dismissing are personal to you; promoting an alert is an organisation action.

Navigate to Safety > CAA SkyWise signed in as a user holding Manage safety, with at least four synced alerts and at least one unread. Capture the four-tile readout band (In Feed, Unread, Dismissed, Last Sync) and three or four alert rows showing the unread dot, the title, the excerpt, the PUBLISHED label, and the Official alert, Promote and Dismiss buttons.

Steps

  1. Open Safety and select CAA SkyWise

The band reads In Feed, Unread, Dismissed and Last Sync. Each of the first three narrows the list below; press a tile again to go back to the feed.

  2. Open the alert at the source

Press Official alert. It opens the CAA page in a new tab and marks the alert read for you. The unread dot on the row goes out.

  3. Dismiss what does not apply to you

Press Dismiss. It leaves your feed and appears under the Dismissed tile with a Restore beside it. Dismissal is personal and reversible — it never removes the official source or a promoted company bulletin.

Options

Promote an alert into a company bulletin

Needs the Manage safety permission. The Promote button appears on every alert that you have not dismissed.

Pressing it creates a draft safety bulletin in the controlled register, seeded from the alert. The toast says so: “Draft company bulletin created”. It does not publish anything, assigns no acknowledgements, and blocks no flight.

To actually put it in force, go to Documents, edit the draft if you want to add your own instruction, then take it through review and press Make effective — see Publish a controlled document. If the source later revises the alert, the promoted document shows a Source update available pill; create a new revision to take it up.

Troubleshooting

The last tile reads Sync Issue with a dash. The last synchronisation failed. The feed keeps its existing alerts and retries on the next 15-minute run; nothing already imported is lost.

A row carries a Source unavailable pill. The alert is in your feed but the CAA source could not be read on the last attempt. The stored title and excerpt still stand. Use Official alert to check the live page.

The feed is empty. The empty state explains it: “No SkyWise alerts imported yet. The Drones feed synchronises automatically every 15 minutes.” A newly connected organisation backfills a 90-day window on its first successful run.

There is no Promote button. You do not hold Manage safety, or you are looking at the Dismissed view — a dismissed alert cannot be promoted until you Restore it.
